1955:
The Utility Workshop is founded

1967:
The Workshop experiences a 400 percent growth rate over the past 10 years

1972:
The Workshop opens its doors to people of all nationalities and with various disabilities

1972:
Denver Options begins funding the organization

1978:
The Utility Workshop is renamed “SHALOM Denver”

1979:
Arnie Kover is hired as SHALOM Denver’s general manager; the organization served 80 clients with an annual budget of $170,000

1981:
Arnie Kover becomes SHALOM Denver’s director

1983:
SHALOM becomes the first Denver agency to provide Supported Employment, helping many people with severe disabilities enter competitive employment

1983:
Mailing services started with Mile Hi Girl Scouts account

1986:
SHALOM Denver receives its first three-year accreditation from CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation

1991:
SHALOM begins assisting clients access a myriad of educational, recreational and employment opportunities through its ICAN (Individualized Community Access Network) program and Senior Activities program

1991:
The number of clients increased by 60%

1997:
The organization begins helping TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) clients move from welfare to work

2000:
North Metro Community Service partnership begins

2001:
SHALOM Denver acquires a new state-of-the-art facility in central Denver with more than triple the square footage of the old site in the Golden Triangle

2005:
Partnership begins with Developmental Pathways
